Music inspired by nature became quite popular by the mid-nineteenth and into the twentieth centuries. Composers such as:

Felix Mendelssohn                 Johannes Brahms                 Josef Rheinberger

in the nineteenth century followed by:

Benjamin Britten,                 Samuel Barber and   Stephen Chatman

in the twentieth century, to name a few, who used nature as the touchstone for love, longing and inspiration.

Through the emergence of the part song, nature was explored in choral societies throughout Europe and North America as a frequent expression of heartfelt emotion and hope, thus creating some of the finest, partsong masterpieces.

The Chorale will sample these various English, Canadian, German and American composers delving into the inspirational connection of nature poetry and music,  discovering a world of beauty and form that lifts the human spirit to a dance of the world around us.
