Two, current choral composers: Mark Sirett and Morten Lauridsen provide us with voices from the twentieth century which speak to our need for beauty, complexity and transparency. Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna and Mark Sirett’s setting of text from Lester Pearson, Faith In Peace. Sirett’s setting of Pearson’s words from the sixties reminds us of the tragedy and passion of loss coupled with the reminder that we are able to survive and create a better world while Lauridsen paints a tone poem of eternal peace and strength in the human spirit. Both works are rooted in the idea that there is a redemptive power in the ability to create and share with compassion and love. This concert will include a few shorter pieces in addition to a compliment of Christmas surprises all accompanied by a chamber ensemble.
